Iran Says National Football Team Fully Prepared for 2026 World Cup
Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Wednesday that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has completed all necessary arrangements to ensure the team can take part effectively in the tournament.
Speaking to a state broadcaster, she added that preparations were carried out under the instruction of the sports minister, with the aim of securing proper facilities to support the team’s performance.
In separate comments, Mohajerani said the health minister reported that 40,000 injured individuals were treated free of charge during what she described as a “third imposed war,” according to reports.
The statements come against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions following joint US-Israeli military actions on Iran on Feb. 28, which led to retaliatory strikes on US-linked targets across the region.
A temporary ceasefire was later announced on April 8, followed by rare direct talks held in Islamabad on April 11–12 that ended without agreement. The ceasefire was subsequently extended as diplomatic efforts continued.
