Iran Moves to Dismiss President Resignation Claims
Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, deputy for communications at the president's office, took to X to issue a firm rebuttal, writing: "President Pezeshkian will not retreat from serving the people, just as the Iranian nation will not step back from the path of solidarity and resistance."
The denial came in direct response to a report published earlier that day by Iran International, a London-based media outlet, which alleged that Pezeshkian had formally submitted a resignation letter to the office of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Drawing on an unnamed official, the outlet's report alleged that the letter contained sharp criticism of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, accusing the powerful military body of seizing effective control over broad swaths of the government and systematically marginalizing the president and other top officials from critical decision-making roles.
The report further claimed that Pezeshkian cited his inability to govern effectively or discharge his legal duties as the driving force behind his decision to step down.
