Israel Suspends Gaza Crossings, Humanitarian Aid After Iranian Strikes
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), a unit under Israel’s Defense Ministry, said that a set of security-related restrictions was put in place in response to the Iranian ballistic missile strike.
According to reports, the new measures include the complete closure of all crossings into Gaza, among them Kerem Shalom and Rafah, with no timeline given for reopening.
COGAT stated that the decision would not worsen the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, arguing that the volume of food entering the enclave since the start of the ceasefire had “significantly exceeded” the population’s nutritional needs under UN standards.
However, Palestinian and international organizations have repeatedly raised concerns, warning that hunger and humanitarian conditions in the territory continue to deteriorate.
