Israeli Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon Leave Five Dead Amid Ceasefire

(MENAFN) At least five people were killed in a series of Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon on Saturday despite the ceasefire remaining in effect, according to reports.

Among those killed was Ali Badie, the mayor of the municipality of Ar-Rihan, who lost his life in an airstrike targeting the area in the Jezzine district. Reports also indicated that an employee of Lebanon’s national electricity company was injured in a drone strike carried out in the same location.

Additional strikes claimed the lives of one person in Maarakeh, located in the Tyre district, and another in Kfar Rumman in the Nabatieh area.

In the town of Deir al-Zahrani, an Israeli air raid hit a residential building, killing two people and causing extensive damage to the structure.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes launched attacks before dawn on the town of Bint Jbeil, destroying multiple houses as well as several government facilities.

Separate aerial attacks targeted the town of Khiam in the Marjayoun district, while drones struck Qasiba in Nabatieh. No immediate reports were available regarding casualties or injuries from those incidents.
